I'm sorry to hear that the CR200 Tegretol medication that works for your daughter is unavailable in South Africa. Since Tegretol (carbamazepine) is effective for her, you could ask her doctor if similar anticonvulsant medications like Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) or Carbatrol (carbamazepine extended release) are available as Show Full Answer

Since Tegretol (carbamazepine) is effective for her, you could ask her doctor if similar anticonvulsant medications like Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) or Carbatrol (carbamazepine extended release) are available as alternatives. You could also check if Tegretol is available from an international pharmacy that ships to South Africa. Her doctor may be able to provide guidance on safely obtaining medications from outside the country if the alternatives are not effective.

I agree with you and your post and the other people's posts here, I may have a suggestion, but it's a thought,I wonder if you're doc or the medical field etc you are dealing with could contact someone else out of the place you are living and get a prescription for that and have sent to you, i don't know if they could, but can't hurt to ask about it, and If they can get a 3 month supply of the meds you are asking about, my opinion here but hang in there and try and stay pos and good luck with your condition and your outcome etc, my opinion here

Being on Tegretol and switching to Trileptal sounds familiar. If that's an option, you may want to try it.
