CABARITA

The Australian Epilepsy Project https://epilepsyproject.org.au/ is competing against 9 other projects for government funding. It is a popularity contest between illnesses for this funding

Because epilepsy is an unseen illness, it doesn't have a high profile like many other conditions and needs all the research and treatment help it can get! If you are in Australia, email your MP to support it and Greg Hunt, Health Minister as the website requests.

Did I Suffer Just From Auras, Or Did The Epilepsy Medication I Was On Keep Me From Having Tonic Clonic Seizures.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Whittier, CA

I had a grand mal seizure, at the age of 6 or 7. I had a horrible headache prior to my episode, but no aura. I was seizure free until age 12 or 13, when I experienced the same type of headache, followed by a grand mal seizure. I was put on Phenobarbital with Dilantin, which took for about 10 years. I experienced another grand mal seizure a few months later, while I was hospitalized for an appendectomy. I hadn't been given my epilepsy medication. I was put on Tegretol in my mid 20's. I didn't… read more

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Weston, MA

I'd love to pick your brains on why you decided to do so and how your openness has been received. I'm committed to helping people with epilepsy who now hide it to "come out of the closet." Knowing your experiences could give me the education I need to succeed. Thanks!

Has Anyone Else Noticed Sounds As A Seizure Trigger?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Simpsonville, SC

I have noticed one of my triggers is audio related (answering of a cell phone for instance or when I call someone and it starts ringing) as opposed to visual triggers. Has anyone else noticed this? Lights flashing do not bother me at all but certain pitches and sounds can trigger an aura for me... typically involving cell phones.
