Yes so am I on the pill form but my pain management specialist told me and showed me it also ruins bone density amongst other things. Google it. I was trying to wean off it the past 6 months then had a massive seizure, I am now going to ask my neurologist for a better medication when I see him next in January but the switch is not going to be fun. I coped a brain anurisum as a result of my last seizure plus a broken nose.
@PaulPfeifer, I just learned a new TIDBIT . I never new there was a liquid form of Clonazepam . I’m on the pill form, of Clonazepam
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member yes I have been told by many doctors in its liquid form it's used as a tranquiliser and ruins your bone density which it has for me I jave the bone density of an 80 year old I'm 46! And it doesn't work for my epilepsy at all !
My Epileptologist put me on Clonazepam for its side effect of working like a sleeping pill. I would take it at bedtime to help me get to sleep easier. It worked for a while, but not no more and I’m still on it.
It's entirely possible that you are on the wrong drug, but it's something you should talk about with your neurologist. After a brief stint on Keppra, I was switched to depakote (valproate,) which I was taking for 10 years in ever increasing dosages. The last couple of years on depakote, my neurologist had raised the dosage to 10,000mg in the morning and 10,500mg at night, but it wasn't helping anymore. So I went to another neurologist and he switched me to 50mg of Lacosamide in the morning and 50mg at night. Barring high stress situations, it has worked wonders for me. I have lots of energy now and I often go multiple years without a seizure. If your medication isn't helping as much as it used to, you might want to consider talking to your doctor about trying another one. It's a big decision though with obvious risks, so it's not a decision one should make lightly.
