A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Manchester, UK

Hi guys

I'm kinds still relatively new to epilepsy and wasn't offered much support from the hospital or anywhere. I was just wondering if anyone in Manchester area knows of a group that meets up or would like to meet up for a chat sometime to help each other?? Message below if you know anywhere ongoing for a catch up in person.

Much appreciated thanks

i completely understand! Dr do not talk a lot about it. Since i have specialized in research i have done so much on my own. Not a lot of support for an illness that affects so many people Dr just love to ask questions and throw meds at you. This is a great place for answers and support.

Honey, I know its a scary reality - but be honest with people and you can have a decent life. Trust me- I have dealt with it for 40 years!! If you know me for 24 hours - you know of my seizures - because I told you. Don't make it into a big deal - tell them you are on meds, hopefully they are working - and don't drink alcohol. There are people who have known me for decades and have never seen me have one...others have seen dozens since they lived with me at a bad time. Its a rotten deck of cards - yes, but don't let it dictate your life - my email if you ever need to chat - [[email: [[email: (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators)

Hi Stephen . You may want to check on the Internet or a phone book and see what Epilepsy orgs., are in or near your area. You may want to check on this site if there is anyone near you. Try and get in contact with them.

Sparkleblue, you may want to try a couple of things . You may want to try and call or go to the web site and look for the Epilepsy Foundation in your state. They have support groups. Or like I told Stephen , you can search on this site for people in your state . If there is anyone who lives in your town or county , you can try and get in contact with that person or people, and have your personal support group.
