Anyone On Carbemazepine Experience Itching?
I've recently noticed I'm itchy all over without a rash. I've been keeping up with moisturizing because winter usually brings on dry skin, but it doesn't seem to be helping and the medication is the only relatively new part of my routine in terms medications or products that I use.
I have been itching too but not related to this med. I have a rash on both legs and my dermatologist told me that she saw it in neuro
patients. I am showing it to my neurologist.
I gave been on it years I do itch some times but I did find out it plays havoc with block tests as it gives a false liver reading
Not yet. Been on it since week before Christmas. It's dry with winter and house heat sucking all the humidity of our homes. (Dry skin-itchy skin).
Hi Lili,
Sounds like you might have found out something they don't know about. If you are itchy all over and it isn't dry skin causing it, I wouldn't be surprised if its the medicine doing that to you. I was taking the same medicine when I was about your age and I couldn't handle it at all, even the lowest dose. It was affecting my brain driving me nuts like hallucinations or something. It was about 35 years ago so I'm trying to remember the exact problem. From what you've described to me it sounds like its affecting your PNS for me it was affecting my CNS.
I remember taking this one medicine and found it had two side affects on me that aren't even listed. I told my neurologist and even called the manufacturer about it, then I could tell it was starting to make me toxic after about 10 years taking it. I had to think back years to figure out what had changed and the only thing I could think of was that medicine and I knew what to do to stop it because I had been toxic before so I knew what was happening. I didn't call the my doctor and did it on my own. Backing off slowly each week. I don't recommend anyone doing this unless you really know what you are doing, because it is dangerous to do. I did tell my neurologist the next time I saw him and why I did it. He had no problem with what I had done and how I did it because I'm sure it is exactly what he would have done.
Always remember these medicine are made in a lab and not natural to our bodies. Cannabis was put here by god so its natural. I know not everything here on this planet can be put safely into you body. But these medicines for epilepsy are so powerful and toxic you have no clue what they are doing to you.
Tell your specialist you started having this problem and you believe its from the medicine. Think back and eliminate anything that has changed and if it comes down to the medicine that is the only thing that has changed that you can pin point then you have found the problem. A couple times I had to go back at least ten years to find a problem. Last summer I had a headache for two months and I couldn't figure out why. So I had to think back a decade and found out it was vitamin D3. So I stopped taking it and my headache went away. I'm taking it again just not as much.
My son is on zonisamide 200 mg at night recently it has been hit here in Houston and he itches in the sun. That's it no rash called doc waiting to see we started in nov with this med.
