When does a seizure get termed as status epilepticus? And does it apply to simple partial seizures?

I had it...it is when you have a seizure and there is no break before the next one starts. For me, it took over an hour to stop it. They induced a coma with meds...Mine started with a grand mal. The doctors say the status episodes can be triggered by changing meds to quickly or they can just happen. It is important to have people time your seizures. They told me anything over 5 minutes is an emergency and brain damage can start there.

Status epilepticus

A person's seizures usually last the same length of time each time they happen and stop by themselves. However, sometimes seizures do not stop or one seizure follows another without the person recovering in between. If this goes on for 30 minutes or more it is called status epilepticus or ‘status’.

Status is not common, but it can happen in any type of seizure and the person may need to see a doctor. Status in a tonic clonic (convulsive) seizure is a medical emergency and the person will need urgent medical help

I usually never know when i'm gonna have a seizure or not but if i do i'd rather have one sitting down instead of standing up
