Hi @MarcC. Thanks for your post about Mindfulness & Astronomy. The night of the Solar Eclipse I was using it to keep myself relaxed. Concentration of surrounding while keeping myself relaxed was a key element. That night, I was even able to stop an aura from falling through while remaining standing. I've also found anytime I feel tension the more yoga, palates, and simple meditation I do, under any circumstance, the better the outcome. Thanks again for input though. I know as a woman, lots of times we read too deep, lol. Which I am putting a halt to

Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member,

Have you ever tried using Mindfulness? I'm almost 17 years seizure free and only recently was introduced to it by my sister. Seeing as you do Yoga I'm sure you have heard about it?

The link between Solar or any astronomical events are totally fictitious as seizures are caused due to a temporary chemical imbalance in the brain causing a short circuit in the brain. A build up of electrical messages unable to by-pass the short circuit allows a build up and eventually it swamps a certain area of or the entire brain - that's how it was explained to me. Astronomical anomalies play no part in causing seizures. This is as archaic as 'The Bible' where it describes a mans son who takes a tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizure as being 'Possesed'!!!

Thanks again everyone. No seizures fell through. A little dizziness for a few minutes, but I kept myself relaxed by using my yoga breaths. Then afterwards that went away. Probably all due to slight nervousness. Maybe the magnitude but Idk. Will definitely inquire with my Dr at next visit. Thanks again to everyone who gave input!

I haven't heard anything specific to the eclipse but I personally as the woman with epilepsy for 16 plus years I know I'm very sensitive flashing lights I can barely look at fireworks even a theater so I know better than to look at the sun. I have a block w/ a quote: beware what you do today it will be on Facebook tomorrow... Why take the risk of a seizure when w/o a doubt it will be somewhere online tomorrow 😊
