What's The Biggest Obstacle You Faced?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been very independant all my life wanting to do everything on my own even 22 years after my diagnosis I'm still like this, and it's hard for me to let others who actually want to help me, help me. I push people away. my best friends and greatest support fight back and refuse to let me push them away. but even though I know (now) i cant do this alone and i do have to rely on others i still find myself fighting this struggle to go at it alone.

Right now my biggest obsticle is getting around. When I was in the big cities , it was easy getting around. If my wife and friends arn’t able to drive me , I could hop on a bus or any other transportation services. Right now Im in a small country town and there isnt much service here.

I know its hard as we get older and still need help from others and can't be left alone for long period in case we harm ourselves or something goes wrong during the epileptic attack. But you need to talk to your family and friends about this mate because they are their to help you not only with the epilepsy but other area's of your life the epilepsy is effecting. Maybe even go talk to someone about it so they can help you see the areas of independance you can have in your life.

I guess I would have to say my biggest obstacle is not being allowed to drive. Of course, like many us, I have to rely on family members and friends. Or Uber and Lyft rides which get expensive.
Just miss the independence.
