WEED!

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sydney, AU

I’m coming to the point where I feel i have tried many things that have not helped (Im no longer medicated) I want to try weed, sadly in Australia it’s illegal but that doesn’t bother me,
Does anyone have any advice or knowledge when it comes to this !?

the CBD oil isn't working for me but if its illegal in Australia would you even have access to that? My neurologist said that smoking weed with any THC in it could cause more seizures so the dr prescribed me cbd oil with less than 2% THC in it. Can you use medical marijuana in Australia or is like every form of it illegal?

I have been using weed since the early 70's. It doesn't prevent a seizure if one is knocking on your door but it has always helped me with my stress levels. Stress can be a big factor in seizure frequency's. CBD oil is also a great try also and it doesn't get you high. My doctor here in the Nevada has no problem issuing me a med card but then again, it is totally legal here. Not that that ever stopped me from indulging when it was illegal. Australia will come around sooner or later, I am sure.

Like Chris24 said it’s different for everyone. There are different strains different forms. CBD is a big hit in Epilepsy. I’m in California and my doctor wouldn’t prescribe me a card, but I truly think if it wasn’t for cannabis I would be worse off. They have no issue prescribing more meds but tend to try to stray you from cannabis🧐 there’s a reason why.. research for there are tons of things down to mints..

I know right @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member there’s lots of different opinions to go with here haha, I am definitely interested in talking to a doctor about this and looking at the Australian laws and things,
I just tried smoking some, not to long ago and I hope tomorrow I won’t have to many episodes 🤞🏻

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member in thc the is cb1 and cb2. the one that makes you high is cb1. and let me clarify, you have a hole lot of cb1 to effect the brain cells. it will not kill you but it makes you dumber if you take a lot of it all at one time.
cbd oil contains 0-3% of thc and 5-20% (if you want a high dose or a low dose) of cbd. cbd oil is just enough of the thc to do its job without making you high. i take the mid dose that has less than 3% of thc and about 10-12% cbd.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i do not know in Australia but it was legal in the US, Indiana about 5-6 months ago (usa was march 22, 2018) but they haven't had the oil until 2 months ago. before the oil i had 1-5 seizures every day, when i got the oil, 2 months ago, it stopped in the first couple of days i used it an seance then i had 1 kinda seizure about a month ago (i wean my meds and that cause my kinda seizure).
