How Can I Get A Seizure Dog?
I’ve been having really aggressive seizures where I knocked part of my tooth out, and I’m starting to not want to go out, how can I get a seizure dog? And how long will it take roughly thanks
1. You can get one trained one from a training organization that raises them and trains them. Canine Pets for Life (CPL) comes to mind. Also Sussquehanna Service Dogs. They cost money.
You can raise funds. A group may donate a dog in your honor.
2. You can hire a trainer. We did. Trainers know trainers. We found a lady who trains dogs for the TSA., that you see at airports. She visited us on weekends. Every weekend for a year. She trained our pet, but she first had to evaluate it.
I have a Red gold lab. (F) very calm. She is a natural alerter. That's why we wanted her trained to be a true service dog. A Seizure Response Dog.
It cost money, but half the cost of an agency dog.
3. Some people, train the dog themselves. This is where the water gets murky.
Not knowing your intentions. Maybe you plan on having a home dog.
So many people are putting a vest on their well behaved dog and the dog misbehaves in public, behavior not typical of a service dog, National testing is soon coming. Or maybe liscensed ADA trainers.
Hope I've been helpful.

I went the backwards way to get mine I went to a breeder and got a low key dog that would easily be able to be to trained with me but of course I was having a hard time getting one with all the waiting lists they put me on so I had to go that way
i know that you need to get a drs note to get a service dog and then ether train your dog to be a certified dog or go to a local service dog kennel. i cant do the kennels because i live in a small town. i am training my dog some tricks when i have a seizure.
I've been asking about how to get a seizure alert dog for quite a while now. Most of the time I'm luck enough that my aura lets me know ahead of time. But sometimes they come on too fast fast and I end up with with broken bone or concussion to my head or even a medivavc trip to the hospital. So a seizure alert puppy wouldn't be a bad idea round here.
Well if you speak to your Dr and let him or her know that you believe it would be in your best interest to have a service dog. Your Dr can do the paperwork and you will then receive a dog. It is a wait period. I'm from Florida and that is what I've seen and heard of. My daughter also suffers from seizures or epilepsy and is waiting on her dog. Hope all work out for you. Be blessed
