Hi Does Anyone Else Suffer Anxiety As A Result Of Having To Deal With Epilepsy?

If so, how do you cope and what kind of anxious syptoms to you face? I’ve been fit free for years (so grateful) but occasionally I’m reminded of my experiences and I freak out.

Also is there such symptoms of anxiety that can mimic seizures? E.g In anxious scenarios my right hand goes numb . My fits woukd start with my right hand going dead and stiff (tonic phase starting up) so I guess whenever this happens I really panic. A neuro said I was suffering accute anxiety years ago and suggested I… read more

I'm the same but instead my right thumb feels as if its twitching and it happens all day long Nd that's how the seizures start so it causes me anxiety and I fight it off thinking it might become a seizure. I wake at night during dreams with this feeling too

I have depression and anxiety. I find guided imagery to be helpful when I get anxious. You can look them up on YouTube. They have 5-20 minute long sessions. I especially like the one that takes place on a beach.

Yes, I face anxiety with my seizures. I already have depression and anxiety disorder, but the seizures seem to make it worse. It is like they feed of of each other. I get anxiety and it can induce a seizure, if I have a seizure, it makes me have anxiety, and so on. I don't really know how to describe it....helpless, depersonalized, "on edge", irritable...It is hard to put into words. If I feel anxiety before the seizure, I have a "distraction box" that I use to try to keep my mind off of whatever is making me have anxiety. It photobox filled with little things like small puzzles, bubbles, book to write in, modeling clay to use as a stress ball or to mold and smash, markers to color the box, and things like that. It sometimes helps afterwards after I have come back to myself and I just feel like crap because I've had a seizure. It just helps take your mind off things.

Also if you have people that's around you and feel overwhelmed Try and distance yourself, take a walk ,read a book ,or just do what you do to relax. I go through this everyday
