Botox

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi I’m new to this page. I was just wondering if anyone has had Botox and had seizures or been ok after it? I have fully controlled juvenile myclonic jerk epilepsy and on Lamotrigine. xx

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member botox is used to freeze or numb your body. it is used to help with the jerking motion. for me, this will not prevent you from having a seizure, it will prevent you from jerking.

Hi. Did you get an answer to this question? I'm looking at getting botox but want to have all the facts first. I am also on Lamotrigine and have controlled JME! Thank you x

my old neurologist convinced me to let him put botox injections into my head. He said it may help migraines. I don't have migraines. I have severe epilepsy and an inoperable brain tumor. This was 3 years ago and my head still hurts at some of the injection sites. It made me worse and I stopped going to him. I also learned he received $63,000 in big pharma kickbacks for giving botox injections. Sad, but true.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member botox (better known as onabotulinumtoxinA injection). it's more botox side effect withdraw. if you take a lot, the anger is a lot. and it last forever (weeks to months on a single med).
