Symptoms Of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
I'm hoping those who have this diagnosis can respond. My daughter was recently diagnosed with these. For years she's had headaches that can last for days. Since her diagnosis I've noticed a pattern between her panic episodes which I believe to be seizures and her headaches.. But it's not always following our preceding them. I called the neurologist to get some insight and the gate keeper secretary wouldn't let me talk to him. Her words" she's being seen here for seizures not headaches go to her⦠read more
Thank you. I actually really like her neurologist.. His secretary leaves a lot to be desired. But I had the same opinion.. He's a brain Dr and headaches involve the brain. We have another appointment and I'm going to talk to him want it. He had told us to call if there were any new or worsening symptoms but then the gate keeper told us it's not their problem. My guess is he won't be happy to hear what happened. The problem where I live is it's not easy to find a different neurologist...
In the mean time we did speak with her regular dr and got a as needed migraine medication.
She was as frustrated with that flippant answer as I was.
Thank you all for responding it's been really helpful.
If I was you, I'd get a new doc!!! Damage to the temporal lobes can cause a multiple number of problems of seizures, before and after seizure. I know this because I have 18%damage to my right temporal lobe. Some of those are such as before and after are panic attacks, short term memory loss, reactions, emotions change of sight. and I believe a few more. For me somethings I have that happen 24/7 are Emotions, I have no fear. Short, term memory, if it isn't something I have high interest or do on a regular basis such attempt do 2 things at same time such as talking on phone and petting dog forget and stop petting or moving something while on phone forget you moved. Other things Dejeu Vue,, and more. imagination something. Before I had surgeries, I use to have migraine headaches, lose bowel movement, imagination, during my seizures I have slight convulsion, repeating of word, may do something don't realize I did it, someone ask me something easy to answer and I give non-sense or not know answer, and more. There are three forms of seizures generalized effect the whole brain, focal effect one side of the brain, and unknown onset are not able to tell where they are coming from. Which each have many types of different types of seizures. Temporal lobe epileptic seizures a few types are partial, complex partial, front optical, and many more. I would think your daughter should be having a MRI and a EEG that can answer many many answers to many different medical problems. What is everything we do being controlled by? I'm sure it's hard to do, but easy to recommend not to let this pull you too hard to do. Don't let the bad pass ruin the possible future. Read my story that will tell you what I mean by that WISH YOU AND DAUGHTER THE BEST!!!
Oh no I didn't take offense at all. I've gotten very good over the years at at being politely harsh. I agree though my daughter has spiraled so badly over the last couple of years. I'm glad we finally have answers as to why but we definitely need to be able to contact our Dr directly as this is all new to us.
Thank you for the words to help give me strength.. This has been a very difficult path.
Hers are epileptic. But she is also in psychological treatment. I'm hoping the combo calms things down
Daydreaming can be an absent seizure. I used to have complex partials where where partial seizures that escalated into grand mal's where I was convulsing on the ground. Now I just have partials where I am smacking my lips in a chewing motion and breathing funny sometimes stop breathing. Sometimes I my head will twitch or arms will shake without having a seizure. I've also had drop seizures where I just collapse into the ground and absent seizures where you zone out and go unresponsive for a duration of the seizure.
