Anyone On Vimpat And/or Briviact?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I’m on both briviact and vimpat and I’m wondering if anyone else is in either or both of these and could let me know what side effects they have if any. Ever since I’ve been on it I occasionally have this thing happen where right when I’m going to sleep I wake up in a panic that I haven’t taken my medicine - it’s not a typical event like being unsure whether I’ve taken my evening dose and it wakes me up from… read more

I used to take Vimpat and I was up to 250mg. I became allergic to it going up so high. I was taken off but in the beginning I was very sleepy for the first 2 weeks. I was also on carbamazepine and another one.

I used to take vimpat but not anymore due to the side effects. Now everyone is different and side effects will vary from person to person. When i was taking it i had dizziness, double or blurred vision, drowsiness and headaches and uncontrollable shaking of the body to name a few. I have been taking Briviact for close to 2 years now and don't have any issues with it. If you are interested, go to this website; www.drugs.com Choose the letter of the drug and then look for side effects. You might also look into using a pill reminder such as one from seizuretracker.com select resources. There are also different apps to help you keep track of taking your meds. There are possibilities that supplements can cause a conflict with your meds, so you have to know your meds and what may cause a problem with a vitamin you are taking.

I am on Briviact and Vimpat. I am not feeling so well I am titrating up on vimpat and down on my Broviact. Today I am having double vision, nausea, with a slight headache. I too feel little weird. I am hoping I feel better once the change takes effect however, I do not like how I am feeling at this moment.
