Life Jackets

Do you think a life jacket will prevent you from drowning if you were to have a seizure in the water?
I was considering keeping one in my bag an inflatable one as with these recent floods happening you just never know when you might need one and in my case I need my glasses to stop me from having a seizure and if that were to accidentally fall off and get lost in the water I would be pretty much screwed.

Do not have anything sharp on while in the life jacket. One can have a seizure so severe that the life jacket can be compromised.

If you are going to be in the water, have a life jacket on. Standard procedure. Even when i was riding in a boat, i had a life jacket on. In your case with the recent floods, i would always keep one with me every time you are out the door.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it .πŸŒ™πŸš£

An extra pair of glasses secured by water proof bag and velcroed to a belt around your waist might be a good idea. Any outdoor store would have an adequate supply/idea to help you.

I would say theres times for life jackets. Like if you are not confident in swimming skills or in a boat, however if your a confident swimmer i would say lifejackets just for swimming will only eventually create a fear. And overall in the end having fear in water can create panic, and be dangerous alone for water accidents to happen. And create excess stress which is not needed especially for someone with epilepsy. If your worried about having a seizure in the water you can always bring someone with you, or if there are lifeguards where you are going swimming, than you can tell them ahead of time. Im a certified lifeguard and i actually find it so helpful if people come to me telling them if they have a medical condition. Its not needed, but it does provide extra knowledge for me in order of looking out for them while they are in the water ensuring safety.
