Does Anyone Else Find That You Can’t Sleep For More Than 2 Or 3 Hours At Night But Can Nap For Hours During The Day?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I think it’s part of why I am so exhausted. I don’t find time to nap often because I give myself so many chores to do so I feel like I add value to my sister and brother in law’s home. I know I have issues. 😞

I did. I've heard some doctors say that there's nothing wrong with napping and as long as you get 6-8 hours of total sleep out of every 24 hours you'll be fine. But I've also heard neurologists say that it's important for epileptic patients to stay on a sleep schedule. My doctor suggested that frequent napping can even be a matter of motivation or boredom.
What I know is that once I made it a point to get up at the same time and go to bed at the same time and eat my meals and get exercise and stop napping during the day, I was able to get 6-8 even 9 hours of sleep each night.

I actually take Melatonin before bed and drink a hot decafinated tea. If I don't, I wouldn't be able to fall asleep even though I'm tired. I also had the problem of feeling tired throughout the day. I started taking a walk and doing yoga. This gives me energy throughout the day. I hope this helps.

🤚me! I also try to keep myself busy during the day but get exhausted then find myself just laying down for a minute (which turns into hours) sleeping deeper than I do at night. Then bedtime comes I toss and turn. It's not an issue your in alone.
