Has Anyone Ever Tried The Modified Atkins Diet (MAD) To Help With Seizure Control. If So, How Difficult Was It To Sustain The Limitations?

I love fruit and the menu limits most types of sugars... I'm cool with staying away from carbohydrates, I know they're not good for anyone regardless of seizures or not. My diet is full of healthy fresh perishables and fish anyhow, but I don't want to sacrifice fruit 😒 How long of a waiting period before you noticed a difference.?..

Fair play to you Chris for being disciplined enough to do the diet. Personally I'm not on the diet, am vegetarian and love my fruit too - I eat loads of blueberries as they're full of antioxidants and love bananas, kiwis and strawberries...you have to give up all of those? I'd find it very hard so again, fair play.

i am on some sorta keto diet for decades. and the original keto and the mad diet are identical (or almost identical). high fats/low carbs/moderate protein... the food to add/avoid... ect.
i am a youtuber and i am going to talk about seizure stuff. i am going to post the keto diet next week (probably friday).

Hello IrishLaura! I love all those fruits you mention as well. The MAD diet does allow fruits like melons and berries. Especially blueberries 👏🏼 (which our Jack Russell dog loves also). And blueberries are a huge commodity around where I live because there's a lot of farms out here growing them. Seizure control through diet is the only treatment I have not tried soooo.... maybe it's time. I am also a fan of body sculpting and love the benefits of exercise. This diet is actually very healthy for bodybuilders and athletes alike and may help my cognitive deficiencies as well.

Thank you for your input!!!

Hi - did a strict Keto diet for a year or two. Very difficult to maintain and a pain in the ass with 2 boys and husband. Did nothing for my seizures but I did lose weight. Went off of it and eventually moved over to a MAD diet, which was a little easier to maintain. Again, no help with my seizures but lost most of the weight I had regained after stopping Keto. Now I just try to eat healthy.
