Does Anyone Know From Where These Words Come?
Give me your tired your poor your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these your homeless your tempest tost to me I will lift my lamp to the golden door. Hint we as a country might be ignoring it.
Also, the words come from a poem written by Emma Lazarus.
I taught history and civics for 40+ years.
Americans need to read the US Constitution. We are in grave danger of losing that freedom we treasure. America already is great and the Constitution and Bill of Rights are the primary reason.
Yes the words written there
The story behind thesatute of liberty
Hey there Francis,
The picture I posted is The Bill Of Rights. It was added to the Constitution in 1791. Those 7 Articles which make up the main body of the document describe federal/national structure and powers of the national government. The Constitution/ 7 articles was ratified/ became law and went into affect in 1789.
The framers/ writers added the Bill of Rights/ first 10 amendments in 1791 because they felt the Constitution needed to clearly define the rights of the PEOPLE, those rights NOT in the control of the Federal Government.
There have been a total of 27 amendments added to the Constitution and that includes the 10 in the Bill of Rights.
ALl amendments are considered part of the Constitution once added.
Not sure where you found 110 amendments...typo?
This old civics teacher ( of 47 years) just can't resist these kinds of questions/ assumptions...😊
