MRI With A VNS Implant?
5 years ago a hospital would not do an MRI because of my VNS (they said it was like a pacemaker… immediate’NO’!) But I am having one done this week, and the form I had to fill out didn’t put ‘neurological devices’ in without the ‘NO’. Has technology gotten better, or am I getting a driver up at 6:30 am only to be turned away at the door? 🤷♀️
MRI machine is generally today are run -+ or +-. The magnetism isn’t as bad as the other machines. — or ++. You will be great! My VNS battery has been charged 4 times. I haven’t had a problem 😃

Yep, the RNS is a step up from the VNS. I posted the story on your main page.
Thanks everyone! And @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member not at all a jerk! It’s good info, and I appreciate it! I think maybe I will call the neurosurgeon who did the implant to find out if it’s one of the newer batteries. I don’t want it to stop! It’s done me way too much good!! I’ve gone from 3-4 seizures a week to just 1-2 a month if I don’t get overtired!
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member what exactly is an RNS? One step up from the VNS?
Shellee2, I would call them to make sure. Not only are getting who ever up at that time. But you would also be wasting medical people’s time as well. Do a double take.
It’s variable! The MRI is - - or + +. You are ok! If the machine is either -+. Or + - That affect the battery . It may stop the battery or one friend you may get magnetized! It depends on the metal of your battery. Newer batteries are safe
