I Am 69 Years Old. Are There Others In My Age Range Who Also Are Scared Of Any Surgery?

I do have an option with laser ablation surgery to help me, but it's not 100% effective on everybody. I am physically active other than driving and am afraid that any surgery would ruin that from whatever side-effects would occur with a surgery.

I am 70 and had numerous doctors want to do surgery, but I have refused to allow it. As it turned out my seizures stopped at age 59 after 45 years. I have known many patients who had increased and more severe seizures and other complications and a couple of people who died. I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, what made happy about the results was before the surgery i was having 4 to 5 seizures a month. After the surgery, the number of seizures were reduced to 1 seizure every 4 1/2 months and that is a big improvement for me and my Complex Partial. I plan to make it 6 months without a seizure.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, thank you for explaining this is me. My medication is trying to keep my seizures under control. I went three months with a seizure. That was good for me. Of course, I got stressed before my CT Scan and during so that is more than likely why I had the grand mal seizure at the end of the CT Scan. I have to continue to work on being more calm and not being stress, afraid, fearful, upset...........ok that is enough LOL

It's been 7 days Suzanne and I can't remember (go figure) if I responded to your input. You have made a difference in my decision. My wife and I agree that at my age of 69 and other than a rare seizure event, and my being blessedly healthy is worth more than the potential negative risk of the laser ablation. Presently, staying with my meds is best. I wish you the best in trying to overcome your experience.
