Same Experience
Does anyone wake up very confused and emotional? I woke up this morning dizzy. I have been having a hard time. Very confused and emotional. Struggling trying to do almost every thing. Like trying to focus and memory. Trying to use my phone. Having a hard time talking. Went to the store couldn't talk to cashier. If I would have I would of starting crying. I just need people to talk to that understand what it is like to have epilepsy.
My dog helps and knows when they are about to happen
➡️Usually when I wake up confused and/or angry already, it's a sign I've had a nocturnal seizure, or that I am overwhelmed. Often pre & post seizure I'll have lots of anxiety, grouchiness, and depression... All signs of seizure time coming soon.
➡️I'll have a more difficult time finding my words when talking as well. This is called Aphasia and is said to get worse the longer seizures occur. I hate being at a register or even worse, face to face with a doctor, and then you can't talk cause there are no words coming to mind.
➡️The emotional flux can be caused by something called Pseudo-bulbar affect which causes uncontrolled, unregulated, and disproportional emotional response to triggers.
➡️I forget how to operate my phone a lot. Take a deep breath several times and if you can, close your eyes while doing it. Vision uses 30% of our conciseness in order to operate. So just closing your eyes without falling asleep will greatly relieve some of the mental stressors happening at a given time.
➡️I'm not a doctor, but take a couple hits of some good Cannabis if you are a connoisseur, and really focus on relaxing with that mighty exhale. Even without the herb, deep breathing can really help to calm and relax a central nervous system. I believe all epileptics should practice deep breathing as they are falling asleep
⚠️Above any & all... remember to be kind and forgiving to yourself. Relax in knowing that you are different than the mainstream, and therefor you will need different approaches to everyday-Life things and be willing to treat yourself respectively
❤️Love your Self
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member,
I can’t speak for anyone else, except myself.
I go through the same thing most everyday. My moods change often and sometimes more than twice in a day. My emotions are everywhere most days. I don’t normally speak about things like this to people, but I do keep them journaled as you do.
I don’t know if it’s a seizure or not for myself. If it is a seizure, then I am in bad trouble. Because I have emotional mood changes at least 4 to 5 times a day. It’s almost like being bipolar. I know some people who are bipolar. Sometimes they ask if I am, because my mood changes often.
Definitely tell your doctor and neurologist about it. I personally am looking for new Doctors and Neurologist @ this time.
You are so brave.
Sounds great, on the Dr.'s visit. Let me know how things turn out. Wishing the best on how the visit goes.

You are super keeping notes! My Epileptologist said keep a calendar which I use my phone. She says be specific!
I have walking sz. Walkout store w/ clothes I didn’t have a chance to try on! I have crazy stories. I also have other types. When hospitalized tied to bed via apron!
Any changes. Right it down could be the key of problem!
Has Anybody Here Done Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation For Depression? My Neurologist Said Its Okay, But Some Articles Cite Risk Of Seizure
Is There A "team" For People Who Have Gotten A VNS? I Am Considering It, And Curious To Hear About People's Experiences
A Question, I Have Pretty Severe PTSD And I Am Wondering How This Will Affect My Seizures Or How I Wake Up Afterwards.
