Hello! I think it depends on the type of epilepsy you have. Mine are always abnormal, no matter the medication, dosage or frequency of seizure. On the other hand, one of my siblings also has epilepsy and his EEG's tend to be normal, with or without change of meds or sleep deprivation. You should probably ask your doctor and also depends on your triggers. During the EEG testing you tend to have flashing lights, but if you're not susceptible then it wont matter. But that doesn't mean you don't have epilepsy. Hope this helps!

hi Isabel, the mri is normal. he has had 6 tonic clonic in his sleep since oct 2018. no other seizures that are obvious. he feels absolutely fine all the time. doesnt appear to have any problems most people describe. think neuro was hoping to see a decrease in activity but i think he had eeg too soon. my sons only issue is that neuro wont let him drive because of the activity even tho those with nocturnal epilepsy are usually allowed to drive.

Okay. And has the doctor seen anything in the MRI? Most likely will take some time. Some forms of epilepsy decrease the frequency of seizures during the late 20's and early 30's. In your son's case, the MRI should help a lot. When the doctors can locate the area of the brain it's "easier" to treat. But I assume he must have a lot of side effects and struggling with certain feelings and thing he can't control? Keppra is a good medication and if given in the right dosage works fine. However, it may take a while to get used to it. Depends on the person. For the EEG to normalize there isn't a specific amount of time. I've been having that test for 7 years and hasn't normalized yet but my seizures have improved a little bit in the past 6 months.
