Has Anyone Heard Of Rns Placement. If So What Is It And How Effective Is It
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
I myself have had an RNS (Neurostimulator) for 3or 4 years. I have had a lot of EEG’s including a surgical one where I just didn’t have any seizures so they were a waste. That’s where the RNS comes in nice. The RNS is a device that not only is supposed to help control seizures but it also records your brain activity while you’re having a seizure. Anytime I have a seizure someone will touch my head with a magnet. That will mark the spot where I had a seizure. If there’s not a magnet on hand it’s okay the doctors will still find the seizures. Every night, before I go to bed, I turn on the RNS monitor and place a wand on my head. It will just take a minute or 2 to download my brain activity for the day. When it is finished downloading information I hit send and all of the information goes to my doctors. When I go see the RNS team they get out their computer and can see everywhere I had a seizure and everywhere the magnet was used. Most of the lines on the screen are smooth but when they find a spot that I had a seizure the lines get bouncy
—-—-wwwwww———-. The doctors will write down whatever information. The doctors have turned up the power several times. To do that they just place a wand on my head and do some adjusting on their computer. I never feel any vibrations or anything else from the RNS.
Your welcome
Thats good to know thank u
Personally I don't have the RNS I have the VNS but I've done some research and truthfully the device all depends on your body chemistry I've had the VNS since 2015 and it helps a lot especially if you have stress or anxiety issues
Is it helpful
