Accidentally Taking Two Doses Of Medication

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cork, IE

Last night I took two doses of my medication in the space of two hours. It was at night time. These were Zebinix, Zonetran, Keppra, Fycompra & Folic Acid. Again (as mentioned in a previous post) I felt a hazzy almost 'high' feeling.
Should people do anything I'm particular when this happens?

If You ever take more medication then You are supposed to don’t waste any time, call your doctor right away. A neurologist is the only person that is going to know what You should really do.

Ouch! Of course I am sure that your team captain had no idea what you were going through, or else he might have stopped. Great adapting to overcome the obstacles! I hope that you responded by telling them no -- though I am hoping that whoever said that was joking.

If possible, you should make sure that you are not alone over the night. I would also recommend that you go on the online site for your pharmacy (if you have one of the chain stores of one of the large pharmacies), then you can ask that question to whoever is on call on the site. I have no idea if they have an emergency pharmacist that they can contact. And, of course, it also depends upon what type of seizures that you have, because doubling the dosage of one or more that are large doses for the bedtime or supper (whichever one that you took twice last night), then more than likely you might be triggering a seizure because you might push the amount in your blood stream out of the safe level and into the level that is likely to trigger a seizure.

You should call your neurologist/epileptologist's office on the next work day to tell the secretary what you did, and find out from your doctor (just in case you ever make the mistake again) what you should do.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Do you have a local doctor’s office that has after hours or a hospital you could call & talk to a Nurse? I know Keppra made me really tired & I had to get off it after 2 months of it. So taking 2 doses of Keppra along with other meds & their side effects might make you feel odd. I don’t know for sure, but the symptoms might eventually pass on & stop eventually but you might just be feeling the symptoms stand out more since you took them so close together. I hope you feel better. Your friend in Texas, Becky
