Can Stress Cause Seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Unfortunately I’m paralyzed from the waist down and live with my parents but my brother and nieces live here as well and my youngest niece does anything and everything to aggravate and is just a brat. I just got home from the hospital from seizures again and my mom said stress can’t cause seizures.

Oh yes, it does! Today stress is what triggers my seizures the most which is why I’ve had to go to see psychologist many times and learn about different ways to calm down and clear my mind. It isn’t easy in today’s world because of how hard everything is in life and how tough dealing with others has become.

Yes, stress is one of the main triggers I have. My previous neurologist said an episode could happen then could end up taking me up to 6 months to have a seizure from it.
