Brain Pressure

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone here ever had days or times when your brain feels swollen? Not a headache, not sinus pressure, but brain pressure. I feel this occasionally, usually followed by ear ringing (tinnitus), some times this is a precursor to a seizure and/or migraine.
Am I going crazy?

I did feal pressure was when I first started having seizures sometime right before a seizure. They seemed to be auras. The pressure started light then gradually got stroger. Sometimes they did developed into a seizure. Depending on how strong the pressure felt would come out of seizure with migraine. There where also times I felt the pressure did get strong, but not extremely strong, put me into have a seizure and come out with minor headache. Also, sometimes light pressure went away no problem. Never had one last all day. What they seemed to be where auras I use to have before a seizure. After 2nd lobectomy that pressure stopped. So did coming out of seizure with migraine or light headaches. I believe they are auras of seizures. Sometimes they do happen but don't fully develop strong enough to enforce into a seizure.

You're not crazy. Sometimes, I feel like my head is tight or pressured. To my recollection, it doesn't lead to my seizures, but I do have trouble concentrating or just doing day to day activities. It does worry me it could lead to a seizure, so I tend to sleep it off or at least relax until it passes.

Yes and they turn into migraines. When I was in the hospital they said my magnesium level was low so they gave me iv magnesium and got my level up and it helped. Next time your at your doctor ask about your magnesium level in your blood work. It may or may not be related, you never know.
