@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Continued from above: Before my disability got approved, I had to wait a while to see my regular dentist & they make me my mouth guards & since I didn’t have any insurance at the time, I had to wait to go see him & the mouth guard I was using broke & the over the counter mouth guards were to big & so without a mouth guard to protect my mouth cause I have TMJ where I grind my teeth when I sleep, I had at least 2 seizures in my sleep where I bit my lip so bad it was swollen, numb & sore & I even went to see my family doctor for it but all she could suggest was putting ice on it to help the swelling & then about a month later I had another seizure in my sleep & bit my lip again but also my tongue. This helped me learn how much my mouth guard really does protect my mouth in the event I might have a seizure while sleeping. I now have a new mouth guard but it’s so thin that I don’t think it’s doing exactly what I want it to cause I’m still finding little bite marks on my cheeks & the other day I felt a place on my tongue like I had bitten it even with my mouth guard in & the hygienist said I could come in & see my dentist about it & so I might cause I paid a lot of money for it cause my insurance didn’t cover it & yet it’s so thin I just don’t know that it’s doing it’s complete job. Since I live with my Mom & stepdad, they have heard or seen me having a seizure while I was sleeping. There was one time that I had a seizure in my sleep & after I woke up I was so tired & so weak it was crazy & usually the tiredness goes away within a couple days but boy that particular time, I felt so tired for a week. Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Like @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said, I’ve had nocturnal seizures for a number of years now. I don’t have auras & so I don’t always know I’ve had a seizure unless I notice something odd or someone witnesses it like my Mom or stepdad who I still live at home with. A few years ago I took a nap & woke up with a different pair of PJ pants on with no memory at all of changing my PJ pants. Then I had another seizure in my sleep & that time I apparently had a loss of bladder & so I apparently walked to my bathroom & removed my feminine pad & put it in the trash can & later that morning got up to use the bathroom but was still tired & so I went back to bed & let me note that on that particular trip to the bathroom I was still in “seizure mode” because I didn’t notice at the time that I had removed my feminine pad but didn’t put one back on & so I went back to bed but couldn’t go back to sleep & so I just got up. That’s when I started noticing the odd things cause I went bathroom again & noticed I didn’t have my feminine pad on & I looked in my trash can & found my feminine pad in there wet with no memory at all of walking to the bathroom to remove it. Then in like 2022 I woke up on the floor beside my bed & found myself sliding my finger across the side of the bed. In January 2023 I woke up to find my glasses underneath my legs & a little out of shape & so I tried to adjust them just a little like I usually do but that time they broke & so I had to go see the eye doctor & get a new prescription for some glasses. I use to keep my glasses in a Kleenex box beside my pillow in my bed but now I sit them on my desk beside the bed. Another time, I woke up confused & felt around beside me on the right side of the bed like I was trying to find something but quickly snapped out of it. Continued Below: Your friend in Texas, Becky

I don’t know if you got my last message but my teammate on this site @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member who has had nocturnal seizures for a long time, has told me she wakes up and finds things out of place such as the remote or a pillow.

They wake me up! I feel like I can't breathe, then it takes forever to get back to sleep.
