Thank you Randy for answering. Yes. All of my three children have it. It is the genetic component I am truly interested in. I don't know if any other of my relatives had it.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , You’ll have to zoom in after clicking on this link probably in order to read it, but it talks about Focal seizures. The flashing lights that trigger seizures are because those people are photo sensitive. I personally don’t have a problem with flashing lights. I’m 45 & have had seizures since the 2nd grade after hitting my head on the monkey bars but no one knows for sure if I got them from that, my Dad or both. My Dad had bad grand mal seizures & his seizures didn’t start till after my parents were married & they don’t know what caused them. Dad passed away from cancer in 2012. Growing up I had petit mal seizures, now known as absence seizures but now I have complex partial seizures & nocturnal seizures where I have seizures in my sleep. Most but not all of my seizures occur in my sleep. In November 2019 my current Neurologist did a 5 day in hospital video EEG & since my seizures aren’t as frequent or severe as some peoples, I didn’t have any seizures while doing the EEG but while I slept the EEG showed mostly Focalized seizure activity but some Generalized seizure activity. I just recently got done doing a 48 hour at home EEG this past week. I don’t know the results yet. Here’s that website: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK519030/. Your friend in Texas, Becky

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Here’s some information from www.Google.com: “ Many times, the cause for focal impaired awareness seizures is not known. Sometimes seizures are genetic (run in families). Other causes include brain injury or infection. People with certain medical conditions can also have focal impaired awareness seizures.”. Your friend in Texas, Becky
