It can be hereditary, but not always, and not everyone who has the genes will develop it. It can also bee caused by illness, brain swelling, fever, or a head injury, among other things. But yes, it does run in families.

It CAN be inherited. There are other ways of getting diagnosed with Epilepsy.

It can be but if it is its more likely that it will skip a generation rather than get past down directly.

Good question, I'm not sure, I was diagnosed at 7 with and my mom had the same condition I did before me, I had a family of 2 other brothers and a older sister and my dad, but my mom gave up on her meds and her condition went away, I was The only one that had It also, no one else did, so is questionable in my opinion.

Hello Theresa all I know is that I am the only one in my family to have epilepsy but I don’t really know if it could be inherited.
