Has Anyone Had Initial Seizure Onset After Chemical/toxin Exposure? My Husband Was Exposed To Toxic Fumes And Now Has Severe Seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Physicians have been unhelpful, saying he must just be stressed and neurology won't follow up, even though he has extensive head injury history. It's so frustrating to not be taken seriously, especially since this has become so debilitating for him. We have been going to Neurofeedback Therapy and that has helped reduce the duration and frequency of the episodes. But it's definitely hard not to have supportive doctors in this process. Has anyone had similar experiences?

So we finally found the source of his seizures! He has the C677T gene mutation where he cannot methylate B vitamins. This causes issues with massive neurologic dysfunction, toxin buildup, and depression. Through naturopathic support we found this diagnosis out and he is doing so well with his current natural medications to support detox, adrenal health, and of course a massive daily intake of Methylated B vitamins, Vitamin D, and Magnesium (of which he was also extremely deficient and contributed to the seizures). Neurofeedback was the only thing that kept seizures at bay until he built up healthy amounts of methylated b vitamins and Magnesium again over the last several months. I highly recommend naturopathic workup for people who are reaching for support with seizures and don't know their etiology. It has probably saved my husband's life!

My epilepsy was likely triggered by toxic pesticide exposure (Dieldrin) as a young child. There is abundant research showing that toxic chemical exposures can lead to ongoing seizures. Many chemicals are known neurotoxins. Clinical neurologists don't generally study environmental causes of epilepsy at all. It's people in environmental activism, community researchers etc. who start asking the questions and a range of medical and other scientists who do the relevant research.

What kind of toxin was he exposed to? I've been researching this for years and can check my notes. Don't give up.
