Who Uses Rituxan?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Minneapolis, MN

My insurance denied the request and appeal for IVIG so my doctors office is now going to try to get approval for Rituxan. Thoughts?

I also have the option to steroids (prednisone) weekly or mycophenolate twice a day. The doctor is telling me I have a rare condition and there is no proven best treatment so anything I pick would be okay...

It is used for any autoimmune disease/disorders. In epilepsy it’s to clear your brain blood barrier (BBB) .

That’s too bad you didn’t get approved for IVIG. I tried that. It is an expensive procedure/treatment. I used to work at Canadian Blood 🩸 svc. I know how it is made.
It didn’t work for me though.
I haven’t tried Rituxan yet.
