Is There Any Kind Of Work A Person With Epilepsy Might Be Able To Reliably Do?
There are multiple of jobs you can do! I did a few jobs others got paid for with a little more then I did. Some them were at a hospital. I worked for a drug rehab handing out flyers and samples of a OD spray that can help stop OD. The òne who got paid did what I did also set up in which areas of the city would be most beneficial, set time to pack the lil bags they where handed out, and amount of time in one spot then moving to other location. In a nursing home talking to patients and helped feed if needed. The paid was a nursing assistant who changed depends if needed, took blood pressure, and other medical task, given by head nurse, easily done. Which I know can be taught and learned easily. I know that because it was one of the courses taught at a school for disabled that my ex fiancé, who had a learning disability graduated a nursing assistance diploma. I graduated with a diploma of medical clerical. I believe that says you can do any clerical job.Such as those who check you in to see or out taking copay and scheduling next appointments to see doctor. You take care wish you best👍
Another thing that would make a huge difference is whether or not your seizures are controlled. If not, then it would be difficult. There’s a lot of things that we can do that others simply “wouldn’t” do. Positive attitude generally leads to positive outcomes. Good luck if you’re looking. 🤞
It depends. I was controlled enough that my employment had to be on a Bus Route when they ran. I was a telemarketer and in Customer Service for many years. It would probably depend on what kind of seizure(s) you have and how badly it has an effect on your life. Obviously I would not stack products on a Store Shelf if it required being on a ladder. I should not work with sharp things, either. Probably working in the kitchen could be restricted.
Any disabled person can do any job. It’s what the person feels comfortable doing and is trained for. You just always have to be honest with the company. Put it on your resume that you have epilepsy. I am having a human rights issue with my work about my disability. They hired me knowing about my disability.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member After having a job for eight years that was very repetitive. I would question this. If you were to say what was the perfect job scenario for someone with Epilepsy, I would say something that was repetitive but at the same time something where each day can turn out different.
