I had brain surgery in 1990. I was awake while my doctor was operating on the left side of my brain. I've been seizure free since then.

We have very different challenges, but they can be amazing! I had surgery, and I am now almost 10 years seizure-free with my surgery.

If you have any questions please ask me. There's nothing to be afraid of. I didn't loose my memory from the surgery. I was awake and talking to my doctor so he knew what to take out.

The best information I can give, when I was a young child (age of 1) had gotten a high fever. During the high fever I began having convulsions, while in the NIC unit, the doctors and nurses were trying to bring the fever down along with stop the convulsions. Due to my constant state, it caused a very bad scar to be impressed from the left temporal lobe to the middle section of my brain.

After going through years of different medications in 1995 I went through the removal of the left temporal lobe in hopes it would either 1, stop the seizures all together or 2, slow them down. The seizure change did take place as they went from one type to a lesser type which was very good.
