Has Anyone Else Used Upwork To Try To Get Some Extra Income To Pay For The Meds / Appointments?

I made an account last week and apparently a new thing is you have to purchase connects in order to apply for job and different jobs require a different amount. I don't understand why I have to pay to apply for freelance jobs...

I am applying in a place in part of state I’m not familiar with. I really respect you! I have been told not to work. I used to work when my sz would be dramatic when I was as over worked. I pray you are in a good place! Not overworked!

Sadly yes. It took me years to find the right job that paid high enough for rent, food, bills and meds. It's frustrating because we are disabled, and most of us can't drive. So often times businesses assume we can't do our jobs with them.

I agree - the job I had when I was diagnosed, my doctors had to get involved and tell them I couldn't be left alone all day incase I had a seizure and there was no one to help me or had a reaction to my meds I had just started. My current boss started being a caregiver to a couple family members a few months before I started there and has been the most supportive person - I couldn't image working with anyone else. It's going on 8 months since I've been applying to both in-person and remote part time / seasonal / contract positions to help pay for the increase in appointments and meds I take . I heard so many great things about Upwork so was surprised and disappointed to learn I had to pay to apply for a job. I'm on a very tight budget and can't do that.
