What Kind Of Activities Are You Involved In That Is Not Part Of An Epilepsy Support Groups? That Are Not Hobbies You Just Do By Yourself.
I can't volunteer since it is $70 ride each shift. I can't join a Board because they require an annual contribution and I need the funds for my new meds. I can't work at an open house any more since they don't have a weekend transportation system. I can't get to a farmers market since the hours are during rush hour and the transportation system prioritizes work and medical appointments (makes sense). I can't get a PT job since the transportation system is so unreliable. (I just had a blood… read more
I try to spend time outside doing various activities. Of course it’s difficult when the weather gets warmer since it can cause getting overheated and then I can have seizures. I also enjoy spending time with my friends from church. The most important thing is that you find things you can do by yourself and safely and not worry about the conditions possibly causing you to have seizures. Remember that God will never give you more than he thinks you can handle. Believing and praying is always good
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I encourage you to reach out to your local Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota. Here is their website: https://www.epilepsyfoundationmn.org/ . You’ll find they offer support groups & upcoming events include things like several picnics that take place on different days in different areas. You can see if any of those might be near you if you want. But it looks like they offer in person get togethers. Just contact them if you have any questions. Give it a try. That will help you meet others with Epilepsy. Your friend in Texas, Becky
I am a volunteer police officer in my area and once I am settled down for good I will take the course again and then I will be a volunteer police officer in 2 places.
Spend time with church groups and activities. Otherwise it's computer games to work my brain. My only neighbor that is nice is the doctor across the street. She has seen me picked up by the ambulance too many times. Numerous times they have cooked extra so they can bring us a meal too. We've watched her girls grow up. It's hard to believe the oldest who was just a cute little girl with mounds of curls is now in high school and is cooking for us. I remember buying girlscout cookies from her! People just keep to themselves it's really weird. Not the world my kids grow up in where all the neighbors knew each other. We would bring lawn chairs out front and just sit and visit. I worked full time but evenings or if you ran into them on the weekend and had the kids running around all our front yards we would visit. It's harder to meet people nowadays.
