Can You Have 2 Different Kinds Of Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pittsburgh, PA

My recent stay in an EMU says my seizures come from the right temporal lobe but, it says there's a possibility of extratemporal epilepsy. I always thought I just had right temporal lobe epilepsy but the fact it shown there was a possibility of that does that mean I could have 2 types of epilepsy?

Yes there are many. Ask your neurologist.

When I got ready to do my brain surgeries, the neurologists tested to see if my seizures were coming from one side of my brain or both. They told me if they were coming from both sides they wouldn't do any surgery!

Was discovered during the mapping for deep brain stimulator surgery, seizure current spikes in left temporal lobe first then bounces to right temporal lobe then spike goes back to the left.

Yes you can have more than one seizure. I had tremors then nothing but after 5 years it's grand mal in my sleep but they say they see other things in tests. I have speech problems at times & other little things so I can't work.
