I have tried melatonin it has helped me a little bit. But what works better for me is a shower to just relax.

I read about it and there's a lot of negative issues with it. The medical field says people are over taking it they are even giving their children too high of doses. It's a major problem with it. They would prefer people didn't use it unless their doctors have approved its use and dose. I just have the same bedtime ritual every night so my body knows we are going to bed and going to sleep.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , A few years ago I took my Mom’s Melatonin & I think it was 20mg & it didn’t help but boy the next day I was tired. Then one when I saw my Neurologist I mentioned that I would sometimes take Benadryl to help me sleep & boy she didn’t like that & she said not to take Benadryl cause it can cause seizures but if I needed something to help me sleep that I could take Melatonin 5mg. I don’t even bother with Melatonin anymore. It just doesn’t seem to help. When I told my Neurologist that I take Sudafed when my nose is stuffy, she didn’t like that either, saying it can cause seizures. I’ve been taking that for years & I know how my body reacts to pills & I’ve never had any problems with Sudafed, Actifed or Benadryl. Everyone reacts differently to different medications & so just because it’s a possibility that someone might have a seizure or something by taking those meds, doesn’t mean that everyone will & I know my body & have taken these pills long enough to know. The Benadryl I hardly take. Your friend in Texas, Becky
