Thankfully, I have a FT job with an amazing supervisor, but October will mark 1 full year of trying to get a second job to help pay medical bills. I started with weekend or evening jobs but I can't drive and my transportation system isn't active on the weekends and doesn't get me there in time for evenings. I've tried remote part-time, Upwork, Fiver, Etsy, transcription, seasonal, handing out my resume to places within walking distance, and then trying a second full-time remote position or… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , We have a Work Force Solutions here & it’s likely you have that in your area & they could sit with you & give you some recommendations. We use to have a similar place but for those with disabilities, called DARS, aka Department of Aging & Rehabilitative Services but they merged with our Workforce. But they helped those with disabilities prepare for employment. So you could go to www.Google.com to see if they’re available in your state. If you can’t afford your medication, your Neurologist appointments, bloodwork, etc., look up your local Epilepsy Foundation at www.epilepsy.com & contact them & let them know your situation & see if they can help you. Prayers things work out. Your friend in Texas, Becky

Question: are you sure you are receiving all the benefits (discounts and state supplements) and healthcare benefits you are entitled too?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I'm not sure what the US is like with this these days but in AUS a lot of the bigger companies have disability hiring policies so it can work out better to disclose it.

If you already working full time, then it really depends on how much extra money you need? You may get away with just a side hustle, Or maybe look for the same job that just pays more? But the first thing you should do if you are in financial stress is seek advice about it. Get that sorted first then if you need to then start looking at ways to earn extra money.
