It can be difficult to know where to start when talking to a psychiatrist, especially about traumatic events. When discussing your acquired brain injury, epilepsy, and recent hospitalization for acute stress disorder turning into PTSD, consider sharing key details like what happened, your resulting symptoms and challenges, and how it has impacted your life. It may also help to write down specific examples of anxiety triggers, seizure events, or other relevant incidents ahead of time so you can clearly explain the history. Bringing a list of current medications can also help the psychiatrist understand your situation. Most importantly, remember that psychiatrists are there to listen, support, and help you. Being open about your experiences will allow them to best understand what you are going through and recommend appropriate treatment options.
