What's Your Opinion On There Being A Housing Community Specifically Made For People Like Us, E.g. One That Surround A Grocery/drugstore
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I agree. I've seen studies done with people that are in perfect health that tend to live longer with a social network. It's something that is made a big part of recovery as well. "A problem shared is a problem cut in half."
That's why I started on here, I didn't know anyone else with epilepsy, or at least admitted it. The only people I had to talk to were my neurologist and primary care physician. It's very helpful to talk to other regular people and hearing and sharing what they go through and how they deal with their epilepsy.
I think ALL diseases uniquely affect each individual.
BM, you missed the goal. The goal is for people who can't drive, but can live normal lives otherwise, e.g. walk and laugh and have a social network while getting some aerobic excercise to get everyday items to use in their homes and have access to medical service without having to count on someone to drive them somewhere. The goal has nothing to do with the poor souls who need in-home daily care. God bless them.
Note, while our main goal is to help people who suffer from seizures who can't drive, the housing would be for similar people who can't drive for whatever medical reason.
I absolutely agree @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. When I was having my surgeries at John’s Hopkins they had a hotel attached to the hospital. Incredible accommodation. I would really be interested to see where in the country would be the best landing spot. Some near the Cleveland Clinic, John’s Hopkins, Mayo, Mass General?
Not sure or maybe partner with a smaller clinic that’s some specialities.
