Does Aspartame Cause Seizures?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I've always heard aspartame causes seizures. I think I've actually had it cause some for me I realized after I drink a lot of diet pop I tend to have one several hours later. Does anyone else get affected by aspartame?

Years ago, I did a full day of allergy testing and I was a little loopy from being hungry. Someone gave me a diet soda and less than an hour of drinking it, I had a seizure. My neuro forbid me to drink, eat anything with those artificial sugars- saccharin, aspartame, equal and all the rest.
Over the years, definitely avoid the diet foods, drinks and much more.I learned to read labels before buying anything to look for the artifical sugars. If there's an artificial sugar in it, I don't buy it. Nowadays, you can find things with Cane Sugar that is actually sweet and healthier for you because it's not processed down like all those above.
