Anyone Else Super Fidgety?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pittsburgh, PA

Hi I realized I'm super fidgety to the point where my fiances mom doesn't sit next to me because it makes her sick and I don5 know why I do it, I got yelled at work because I had to constantly be using my hands or shaking my legs. I was wondering if this could be connected to epilepsy because I've been like this forever since I was diagnosed and don't realize I do it. I don't know why I do it.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

It’s weird when you mention that. My opinion it’s not due to epilepsy. Habits are common. My friend picks his fingers and shakes his leg. My sister when she talks touches her nose a lot. My sister… read more

Who Has Been Given Gabapentin When It Is Not An Anticonvulsant For Your Type Of Epileptic Seizures?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

Gabapentin is not supposed to be given to an epileptic who has focal seizures because it will usually trigger more of them (as is the case of too much of any anticonvulsant will do for epileptics). And Gabapentin may worsen absence and myoclonic seizures, so caution should be observed if the patient might have these seizure types.

Details on Gabapentin from the Epilepsy Foundation

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

There seem to lots common triggers for those that have bad seizures. Here are a few can you think of any others: uncrotrolled medication, dehydration especially in hot weater, diet, stress, over use of computers and phones or technology, lack of sleep or rest, eye strain especially for those that wear glasses, lighting especially flickering lights.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Lack of sleep and stress are usually my triggers. I've been switching meds so that might be part of it too
