Help Identifying Seizure Type

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can someone explain to me what type of seizure I'm having if my right shoulder repeatedly raised and lowers multiple times for about a minute or two? Sometimes it's the right side of my back (muscle) that tenses and releases so much so that I jerk backwards. I could really use some clarification. Thanks in advance!

Hi Stacy you are having a Myclonic Seizure. I have them they are really quick, & sometimes you don't even know you're having it. I hope I answered your question clearly.

If you are reactioning on one side then your seizures are coming from the other side. For example if your right side is on the right side then your seizures are coming from the left side. My brain surgery was on the left side and I was talking to the surgeon while he was operating on me.

I also agree it could be myoclonic seizures.
The current medication I take has relieved me o seizure activity for the past four years.
Before that I would have twitches in my right hand at the same time like clock work.
Then they would disappear for few weeks and then return again.

Beautiful place and horse! I read those side effects but I don't think it was for seizures. Ask GP and neurologist. Not to freak you and the horse out but it was for something even more serious than seizures. Some diseases have strange side effects that you would never guess what it refers to like liver and bladder diseases. Do not ignore this one or assume it has to do with epilepsy. The quicker it is diagnosed, better chance of treating it.
