Does Coconut Oil Really Reduce Seizures?
I was reading that a few people were taking 2teaspoons of coconut oil a day and it was helping them. What do you guys think
Taken it for years for my skin doesn't help my seizures thou.
Coconut oil is high in natural fat. If you are eating a high fat, low carb diet such as Modified Atkins coconut oil can help reduce seizures. It would help increase your body's ketones.
Mct oils on days I'm not hitting NY proteins as my neurologist and primary agree healthy diet should consist of low carbs and hardly sugar or caffeine, keto diet. Has been helpful but I'm a suckered for chocolate as I was allergic until I was pregnant with my oldest son. With Keppra I've been a little easier on staying to a specific diet but do know the changes.
I do not know about reducing seizures but I eat coconut oil because fatty foods and other oils in processed foods make me feel nauseous. I had my gallbladder removed last February because of severe stabbing pain in my liver gallbladder area after eating some Orea cookies that had some an oil that I cannot recall but I was literally vomiting up bile for hours. And, that has happened to me for years if I ate something oily. So, I have been using coconut oil instead for years now.
