Cymbalta Cold Turkey
Had anyone ever experienced issues with the drug Cymbalta? My doctor ill advised me to stop it cold turkey and suggested that the Effexor he started me on would help with any type of withdrawal. Well I ended up in the ER for the 8TH TIME because I'm withdrawing from a sharp decrease in Lamictal and cold turkey on Cymbalta with new side effects from Effexor. I have read that there had been lawsuits against the FDA regarding the withdrawl symptoms and lack of sufficient studies. I now see why for⦠read more
oh yes!!! Funny story on this one - that drug you see advertised on TV for fibromyalgia (Lyrica) worked for my petit mal seizures for years (also made me sleep too much and eat - gained almost 100 lbs!!) Finally a doc said stop that drug and took me off cold turkey ( I was taking 300-600 mg 3x a day) but happy he was doing so...until the withdrawal started to happen, room spinning, double vision, (its been a long time- so don't recall all - but I have never smoked a cigarette - so withdrawal I had no clue about until this)...My advice - don't go off anything "cold turkey" (I just had brain surgery and they are gonna try and take me off meds next year) - go down half or a full pill for a week, then do another...if it takes a month - so be it!!) I have never drank, smoked a cigarette, not pot even - nothing in my life!! So me going thru withdrawal was weird!! Started to understand why addicts are their way!! Is this the same doc making this bad errors? If so - look into a new one!! I had a bad doc years back I could have sued his ass!! He's dead now - and I doubt in Heaven! Take care!!
Going cold turkey off your meds not only dangerous but you can have a seizure from that and not only the side effects.
Never dumb to trust or not trust them they do have the knowledge it's just I've learned to have the best DOCTORS I have a team now lol. But keep your head up! I hope you feel better I'll say a prayer for you
I tapered off Cymbalta. But I know a couple people who went cold turkey and it scared me!
When my boyfriend did it, he got the most common side effect- brain zaps. His description was that it felt like lightning zapping through his brain all the time. He was pretty much down for the count for 2 weeks. The withdrawal period was spent completely in bed it deteriorated him that much.
My BIL said his experience was similar. The difference with my brother in law is that he suffers with chronic pain and RA. He is on a ton of meds for that making his med situation different. He had a lot harder time getting past it. He ended up taking about a month to get through the withdrawal.
Hope this helps!
Thank you all so much for your support and experiences!
