XL Spikes And Events??
During an EEG do you know if XL Spikes/Events are actual seizure activity? I was told that spikes and events are often computer generated ie, REM, chewing etc... I actually have a friend whose daughter is having a 24 hr EEG right now and it's showing a lot of spikes/events. Just wondering what your opinions are on this...
EEG just detect brain waves. Anything could spike it depending on your brains chemistry. They don't detect epilepsy either. Technically they only show "Normal" and "ab-normal" brain waves and where so my Nero told me
I would say it means a abnormal brain spike cause I stayed in a epilepsy testing center for SEVEN whole days. And they'd wake me up "like are you ok, are you ok?" So I think it means there was some abnormal activity which could've turned into a longer seizure
She found out they were just kind of glitches on the EEG. Her little girl is having seizures but the spikes she was worried about were really nothing worrisome.
Yes it is normal when they chew or laugh the spikes go crazy
I think it's normal too. My friend is freaking out and I told her not to worry until she talks to the actual neurologist. But when it comes to your child, I completely understand being terrified when you see all the brain waves that look abnormal. It would be really scary.
