@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I'm pretty sure it just means there was a very big jump in the eeg wave so they say Xl jump.

XL and spikes seen on an EEG typically refer to abnormal electrical activity in the brain that may indicate epilepsy or another seizure disorder. Specifically, "XL" stands for extremely large, referring to very high amplitude spikes, while "spikes" refers to sudden bursts of electrical activity. Seeing XL events and spikes would likely prompt further testing, like longer-term EEG monitoring, MRI scans, or getting a detailed medical history to help diagnose the cause and determine the best treatment approach.

I’m not sure what the XI means . But there are different brain waves

1. Beta Waves ( 12 - 30 Hz ) It’s our alertness and awaking hours . They are commonly observed in the Frontal Lobe of the brain.
2 Alpha Waves ( 8 -12 Hz ). These wave are associated with Calmness and Relaxation. These are commonly found in the Occipital Lobe of the brain.
3. Theta Wave ( 4 - 8 Hz ) these wave deals in Meditation, Creativity and Dreaming. These waves are most commonly observed in the Temporal Lobe of the brain.
4 Delta Wave ( 0.5 - 4 Hz ) these waves are associated with Deep Sleep and Unconsciousness . These wave are observed in the Parietal and Frontal Lobes of the brain .

When the brain waves are normal , when at a steady spike rhythm.
When the brain wave are out of Wack and spiking highs and lows are the cause of seizures.

I hope this helped some .
