Postictal States

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have grand mal and myoclonic seizures, has anyone ever lost their ability to speak after a seizure? In my postictal state I could understand what people were saying and was only a little foggy, but if I tried to speak nothing would come out. I could communicate by writing, it was messy but I could still write.

You seizures must be going through your Speech ,Language and Memory Center. When it hits that area of your brain , it creates like a Short Circuit. So you may know what you want to say , but because your seizure struck that part of your brain your not able to vocalize.
