My absence seizures I tend to stare into space and get real confused afterwards and even defensive lately I fell of my toilet and when I came to wondered why my bed was so hard until I realized where I was so there at simple ways to know me if I'm really confused then I know I have had a seizure

My daughter has absent seizures, when she was little it looked like she was rolling her eyes at something she didn't enjoy but, a little longer. They only lasted for 5 to 10 seconds at most.

When they started her on the medicines the seizures got longer and more complex. Arms shaking, body jerking slightly.

fast forward 7 years and her seizures are a little more intense and longer, sometimes 30 seconds and she can have clustered seizures, one after another. she is semi cognitive during the seizures but without control of her hands and arms (still shaking or flapping/flailing might be a better descriptor) she has little control over them and can poke herself if holding something sharp.

On a side note, I think of them as functional seizures as she is able to walk and climb stairs while having them. She can hear voices but, for her, time seems to stop during the seizure and things have to be repeated when she comes out.

Interesting side note, On a lot of the siezure meds, a side affect is "May cause seizures" Ugh.

It stairing into the air not knowing what your doing. You can drop things, fall spill things. Some times people don't know what your doing. It's hard an frustrating at times. When I get them I don't know what I'm doing at all an at times I spill things.
