Did Anyone Have A Shorter Or Harder Time When Coming Off A Medicine.
I'm coming off of Dilantin. What was the experience like when you came off one of your seizure meds?
They wein u off slowly. Example when i came off Tegretol, and started with a startet kit for Lamictol, as i increased my Lamictol to a therapeutic range, my tegretol was then out of my system, by weined off slowly. But you have to trust what ever meds u take or replace
When I was moved from Epilim to kepra too many toxins built up in my body and I lost all balance, couldn't walk straight, couldn't hold anything in my hands as I was shaking that badly and I couldn't talk properly either. It is a small price to pay but getting out the other side was hard.
When the doctors tried to reduce my medication my seizure rate increased dramatically. So they decided to only change those that severely damage certain internal organs - liver, kidneys, heart, bowels. But looking at the medication list I am on most of my organs are going to be damaged by them some where down the line. I guess it's a small price to pay for keeping the brain ticking over. Hopefully medical science will advance soon so these side effects will not happen.
Well depends on the type of medication itself and how they ween you off. Different medications interact differently with your body. When is was on a very high dosage of urbanol as a teenager but I really drank a high dosage I struggled to get off it
I never tried it but it doesn't seem very healthy. I hv to keep my protein high. But I do it by increasing my protein at night, eating protein snacks like cheese and nuts and also I drink a protein shake in the morning. My other meals are normal and balanced with plenty of veggies and fruit. No caffeine or alcohol.
